FASBIn early 2012, the NSW Police Firearms Registry re-interpreted the Firearms Act. As a consequence, firearms licences were no longer issued to wildlife volunteers. The NSW Wildlife Council immediately began negotiations with the Firearms Registry. Now, wildlife volunteers can again receive a permit for “Animal Welfare” reasons.
